Responsible Dog Ownership Day

Responsible Dog Ownership Day

Responsible Dog Ownership Day is on the 18th of September. On this day the world comes together to observe good practices to ensure we are all giving our four-legged friends the best possible care in the world. Being a responsible dog owner is more than just adhering to the law when it comes to breeding, care and socialisation, it is about ensuring that when we decide to take on the task of welcoming a pet into our care that we stop at nothing to ensure that pet has the best life possible.

Being Responsible

Here at The Naturally Healthy Pet Shop, we are dedicated to providing the healthiest and most wholesome treats for your furry friends. From all-natural ingredients to sustainably sourced products, our ethos is to ensure that pets are provided with the best food, treats, and care available.  We set out to be great for our pets and great for our environment. We aim to help pet parents to be the same. Our quick view symbols let you know at a glance which products are Locally Produced, Organic, Recyclable, and Sustainably Sourced. So if you are a new pet owner or have had furry friends for many years, here’s why being a responsible dog owner is now more important than ever before.

Pick up their Poop

Despite the legal implications of leaving your dog’s mess when out and about, cases are on the rise of owners not being responsible when it comes to cleaning up after their canine. Not picking up your dog’s poop doesn’t just have implications for you, but it can lead to problems for others and other animals in your local area.

When it comes to rural areas that are populated with livestock, not picking up after your dog can have negative implications on the health of animals such as cattle, sheep and poultry where mess can transfer harmful bacteria. Never be caught short with the Beco Pocket you can easily carry poop bags, made to fit standard rolls of bags including our Beco Scented Poop Bags, and our Beco Compostable Poop Bags, created with your pet and planet in mind.

Shop Sustainably

As the world becomes increasingly focused on protecting our planet, as a dog owner, you can also do your bit to help keep our earth as beautiful as ever. Shopping more sustainably for your pet’s food, treats, grooming and toys can help ensure no extra resources from our earth are being used for consumers. Each and every single one of our treats, food and even toys are sourced from businesses that focus on ethically and environmentally friendly processes to create your dog’s favourite products. Sourcing our fish from sustainable waters and our meat treats from free-range and sustainable farms ensures that your dogs get the highest quality available without any extra carbon pawprints.
