National Dog Week

National Dog Week

With autumn leaves and the aroma of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes all around us, September brings forth a celebration many of us can truly get on board with. Dedicated to celebrating our furry friends big and small, National Dog Week gives us a chance to globally recognise just how much our four-legged friends enrich our lives and without them we simply couldn’t survive.

Why We Love Our Canine Companions

Helping us cope through months of lockdown and isolation, our furry friends were the beacon of hope during times of loneliness and helped us maintain both our physical and mental health in more ways than we could ever imagine. With significant rises in dog ownership during the pandemic, the world really began to see just how special our pets really can be.

National Dog Week gives us a way of saying Thank You to our four-legged friends and showcasing all the reasons why we love our canine companions.

Our Biggest Support

Whether it’s greeting us at the door after a long day at work or showering us with affection when we need it most, our four-legged friends really are our strongest rocks. Proven to improve our mental health, a small hug with your pet can significantly boost serotonin levels in our brains, the chemical responsible for feelings of happiness, rescuing us from moments when darkness seems to prevail.

Our best friends and loving companions, each and every one of us would easily admit we couldn’t live without our pets. Becoming significant parts of our lives for many years, our pets see us through our happiest and hardest moments without any paws or hesitation. Experiencing loneliness and isolation like never before, the past few years have been testing for us all but with those waggy tails, smiling faces and furry kisses, we got through it with our best friends leading the way.

Brighten our Day

From their unique behaviours to spectacular smiles, our dogs really do turn our frowns upside down. Guaranteed to make us chuckle when trying to sneak food or snacks from kitchen countertops or bringing us (often humorously unwanted) gifts from the garden, our canine companions work hard every day to ensure we admire their affection.

Over the recent decade, many of us have taken to social media to showcase just how important our animals can be with accounts featuring our furry friends in the prime of their daily actions and adventures. Whether it’s playful paddles or walks in the woods, seeing their tails wonderfully wagging enriches our lives each and every day.

Adoring Affection

Any pet owner will agree that a cuddle a day really does keep those blues at bay. Excitable licks, calming cuddles and snuggly spooning are some of the most fundamental actions that help us build a bond with our dogs. Shown to help raise mood levels amongst humans and animals, having a hug now and again can help maintain mental health in your and your pooch.

So, with National Dog Week commencing on the 20th of September, paws for a moment to appreciate that special pooch in your life and say thank you for being the most loyal and loving companion we are ever so blessed to have.
